Ingredients:
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 6 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 4 teaspoons sesame oil*
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 4 cups rice (white, brown, jasmine.. whatever you prefer)
- sliced green onions for garnish
- sesame seeds for garnish
*if you do not have sesame oil, canola oil is a good replacement
Recipe:
To make this recipe as quick as possible, I use boxed rice that can be made within minutes in the microwave. I get this started first because it takes the longest (15 minutes or so). Cook according to package directions.
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
Add beef and garlic. Cook until no longer pink.
While the beef is cooking, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, crushed pepper, and pepper in a small bowl.
Once the beef is done cooking, drain the grease and return to the stove. Reduce heat to low.
Pour the sauce over the beef and mix together. Simmer for a few more minutes.
Scoop individual servings of rice into bowls and add beef. Top with green onions and sesame seeds. Serves 4-6
